- Why Use Delete-X? 1
- ÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕ
-
- Have you ever noticed that there is something missing from DOS Delete?
- I sure have. I got sick and tired of switching between directories and
- deleting files. I wanted to delete all files except for my compressed
- ones. I'd have to go through each file extension and delete it, or I'd
- have to copy the compressed file to another directory and then delete
- all files in the directory, and then copy the compressed file back.
- Well I knew there had to be a better way. So I made it.
-
- Delete-X has features that DOS Delete can only dream of. With Delete-X,
- you can exclude files from deletion, you can delete files that are older
- or newer than a certain number of days, you can delete files bigger or
- smaller than a certain size, verify each delete, and you can delete
- read-only, hidden, and system files, all with the use of command-line
- parameters.
-
- Delete-X is distributed in its full release version. Nothing is held
- back. However, if you register, you will get the newest version without
- the "Please Register" screen. You will also receive a registered copy
- of my random screen clearer. It randomly selects from over 15 different
- clear screens that I programmed. You get it absolutely free with
- registration of Delete-X.

- ÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕ
-
- -U Unconditional Delete With this option you can delete
- read-only, hidden, and system
- files.
-
- -G Greater Than Size This option allows you to delete
- files greater than the quallifier
- size.
-
- -S Smaller Than Size This option allows you to delete
- files smaller than the quallifier
- size.
-
- -V Verify Each Delete You can use this option to choose
- Y or N whether or not to delete each
- file. This is particularly handy
- when deleting a mixed assortment of
- different files.
-
- -O Older Than # Days This option allows you to delete all
- files older than the quallifier
- number of days.
-
- -N Newer Than # Days This option allows you to delete all
- files newer than the qualifier
- number of days.
-
- -X Exclude Files You can use this to exclude the files
- that are included in the qualifier.
- You may also use more than one exclude
- per command line. Wild-Cards are
- accepted in this option as well.
-
- -h -? Help This will fade in the multi-color,
- user-friendly help screen.

- ÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕ
-
- -U The unconditional delete option does not have any
- qualifiers. It is a stand-alone option to delete
- all files in the directory.
-
- -G<Size> The greater than size option requires the size quallifier
- in bytes to immediately follow the -G command. That is,
- that -G requires the size of files that you want to delete
- immediately after the option.
-
- Example:
- DELX -G54000 *.*
-
- This will delete all files greater than
- 54,000 bytes big.
-
- -S<Size> The smaller than size option is similar to the greater than
- size option. You must include the size in bytes immediately
- after the -S option. This will delete any file smaller than
- the number of bytes specified.
-
- Example:
- DELX -S29000 -G100000 *.*
-
- This will delete all files smaller than
- 29,000 (29K) bytes and any files larger
- than 100,000 (100K) bytes. The files that
- will remain are those larger than 29K, but
- smaller than 100K.
-
- -V The verify delete option is a stand-alone option. There
- are no qualifiers. It will allow you to select whether or
- not to delete each file it encounters. That is, those files
- that are not discluded by other options, such as -X.
-
- -O<Days> The older than days option lets you delete files that are
- older than the specified number of days. Similar to the
- -G option, the -O option requires the qualifier to
- immediately follow the -O. The qualifier is any number
- of days you wish.
-
- Example:
-
- DELX -O60 *.BAS
-
- This will delete any file with the .BAS extension
- that is older than 2 months (60 Days).
-
- Invalid:
- DELX -O17.3 *.*
-
- You can not use decimal points in any qualifiers.
-
-

- Usage 4
- ÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕ
-
- -N<Days> The newer than days option is similar to the older than
- days option. The number of days qualifier must immediately
- follow the -N. This will delete any file newer than the
- number of days specified.
-
- Example:
- DELX -N30 -O90 *.*
-
- This will delete any file newer than 30 days,
- and older than 90 days.
-
- Invalid:
- DELX -N28.7 *.*
-
- Never use decimal points in the qualifier.
-
- -X<File(s)> The exclude file(s) option allows you to more easily pick
- out the files that you don't want to delete. The file
- name must immediately follow the -X option. You may use
- wildcards (eg. *.*) in the exclude option. You may also
- use more than one exclude in a single command. This option
- is the one that I've found to be the most helpful.
-
- Examples:
- DELX -X*.ZIP -X*.PAK -X*.LZH *.*
-
- This will delete all files in the directory except
- for ZIP's, PAK's, and LZH's. As you can see,
- multiple excludes can be a huge asset by saving you
- time and key-strokes.
-
- -? -h These options will bring up the help screen. On VGA systems,
- the screen will fade out, and the help screen will fade in.
- Without VGA, the screen will not fade, but multiple colors
- are still used in the help screen itself. If you have a
- CGA or Monochrome monitor, the colors will appear differently
- on your systems, but they can still be deciphered. If you
- have such a problem, let me know when you register, and
- I'll send you a copy without fade-screen or colors.
